That’s the thing no one really warns you about when you study abroad. The smell reeks in the air and around every corner there are little coffee shops or convenient stores where you can buy paraphernalia. Play Minecraft or another multi-player video game with family. The other aspect of Amsterdam culture is weed. You can only hope that their industry treats them and pays them well. You can even set up a small bin right in your kitchen. Winter is an ideal time to purchase or build compost bins and get started with composting. There is no need to shield your eyes as you walk down the streets or feel embarrassed. Winter is the perfect time to start drawing up plans, ordering seeds, and making a timeline for when you’ll start certain plants inside. Amsterdam has its own culture and this is just another part of it.
